As a tax payer if you try to better yourself by making more  money
or renovating your house you have to pay more tax. More income tax and more property tax. You get taxed on top of taxes, the best example I can think of is the car.

Gas tax
Air Con tax
Tire tax
License plate tax
Annual sticker tax
13% tax on the purchase
On and on and on…………

For a politician the dumber you are the more successful you are.
When you are done, you get a tax free pension that is well in excess of $100,000.00.  all you need is 7 years service.
